STREET MAPS
& SATELLITE VIEWS

Page updated 30 May,2007

This page repeats the various references to Flash Earth, Google and Multimap etc
that have been used in the pages of Norwood. The Google Earth web site
does not yet show Harrogate any great detail.
Some web sites give the facility to switch on or off the street names, a very handy way of navigating around if you are not sure of the locality

SITE OF NORWOOD COLLEGE

A very good satellite view of the former sites of Clifton, Norwood and its Playground is on the
Flash Earth web site. Clifton is the large grey-roofed building in Stray Rd and Norwood the two white-roofed blocks of flats.

The position of the Norwood College can be seen on the aerial view of Multipap.com web site

(The main pages are at Property and Location)

NORWOOD COLLEGE SPORTS GROUND
& CRIMPLE VIADUCT

An aerial view of Crimple Viaduct can be seen on the Multipap.com web site. The former Norwood College Sports Ground is visible as the dark-green field below the two playing fields at top centre. Fells Quarry is to the immediate east (right) of the Norwood field.

A very good satellite view of the former sports ground site is on the Flash Earth web site. Locate the light-coloured path over the railway then follow the line of trees to the left to a dark green area of grass with a path crossing diagonally. The exact area used by Norwood is not known but it most likely would have been this area and probably more of the grassed open area. The area with the copper-coloured trees beside the railway is Fells Quarry. By panning the satellite view south-eastwards a wonderful view of Crimple Viaduct can be seen.

(The main page is at the Crimple Valley and Norwood College Sports Ground)

J W NUTTALL'S SCHOOL PRIOR TO RELOCATING CLIFTON TO STRAY ROAD

no.6 Queen Parade

CLIFTON HOUSE PREPARATORY SCHOOL
site in 2005

An aerial view of Stray Road can be seen on the Multipap.com web site. The white L-shaped building on the corner of Leeds Road and Tewit well Avenue is Norwood College and the other white building just below is built on the playground for Norwood. The roof of Tewit Well can be seen as a small white disc end the east end of Stray Road.

Another very good satellite view of the former sites of Clifton, Norwood and its Playground is on the Flash Earth web site. Clifton is the large grey-roofed building in Stray Rd and Norwood the two white-roofed blocks of flats.

(The main page is at Clifton in 2005)

RAILWAY BRIDGES ON THE STRAY

There are two such bridges over The Stray. A satellite view showing this area is on the Flash Earth web site; both Norwood and Clifton sites are on this view.

(The main page is at Brunswick station)

CRICKET AT PANNAL

A satellite view of the Pannal cricket ground is on the Flash Earth web site. Note the proximity of the Harroagte to Leeds railway line.

BRUNSWICK STATION

A very good satellite view of Brunswick Junction is on the Flash Earth web site. Norwood and the Playground, or what they are now of course, are visible at the top left of this image - two white-roofed buildings. The former Clifton school is visible immediately beside the annotation for Stray Rd. By sliding the map you can trace the course of the railway ending in the triangular grassed area bounded by Otley, Trinity and Leeds Roads.

(The main page is at Brunswick station)
