NORWOOD COLLEGE
OPERATIC & DRAMATIC SOCIETY

Page updated 21 August,2006

Norwood was affiliated to the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA). (As at September,2006, this web site is not operating).

Seeking confirmation from NODA in November,2001, the Association said that the first entry for Norwood College ODS occurs in the 1953 edition of their Year Book. The Secretary is shown as Mrs J.M Hammond LRAM LGSM. Shows performed during the last four years were The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance and Trial by Jury. By 1955 Norwood had added Iolanthe to their list of productions.

Norwood continue to be listed with NODA until 1969. This time the Secretary is listed as G.W.G. Cass. After that, Norwood's entries stop, which suggests the school ceased to be a member of NODA that year.

Dear Mr Eden
Well, I have done some digging and have a little bit of information for you. NODA used to produce an annual yearbook (a rather good idea, and one I will look at reviving) with some limited details of its affiliated societies.

I hope that is of some use.
